wow…what a blast. (My wife and I, along with some great friends and kids spent New Years Day partaking in a caaaarazy event, the 2008 Jacksonport Polar Bear Plunge. Although we arrived nearly last, my daughter Kristine, her friend Michelle and myself dove into 38 degree Lake Michigan’s Door County waters….and what a way to start out the year!!!
I must admit, I was nervous and hesitant at first, and as we drove there, I was getting myself pumped for the experience, but once my daughter decided to do it, I knew i was going to be something I want to be a part of. So glad we did it.
Happy New Year Everyone!

Enjoy it! My daughter and her friend (13) at the time did it with me, and we had a blast. I don’t know what the age restriction may be, and we did have to sign a form but the excitement of running into a frozen lake with hundreds of people, was so fun and overwhelming – that I could have signed off on giving my house away for free, for all I know.
If you have never done it, I will say the excitement of it all will rush awesome adrenaline through you where you can run barefoot on ice, through the lake, and feel amazing. What a great memory. We got the t-shirts and pictures to prove it, and we have been meeting other Polar fans ever since. Happy 2009!
